Snowstorm! Blizzard! Bad roads, bad drivers, bad luck! I managed to get to work while the percipitation was still light snow, melting as it hit the warm ground. Temperatures for the past month have been higher than we've had the right to hope for. An hour after I arrived, one of my co-workers walked in shaking like a leaf. She had managed to avoid being caught in the middle of two semis unexpectedly finding icy conditions, sliding sideways on the highway, and taking the cars traveling beside them towards the median. One was directly in front of her and the second she saw in her rear view mirror. A second co-worker arrived a few minutes later, shaken because she had witnessed a car sliding out of control and running up a tree. Both were saying the roads were horrible, and I should go home immediately. Confirming that thought, human resources sent out an email - if you're home, stay there. If you're in the office, go home, but drive carefully! If the schools are closed tomorrow, stay home! We called the remaining members of our staff hoping to catch them before they got onto the roads.
It took me and hour and a half to get home, which is normally a 25 minute drive. Traffic was moving about 15 - 20 mph, which was fine with me. I have a 4 wheel drive, but nothing helps when you're driving on ice. I used my intention to ground the car and surround it with a protective bubble of white light. The tires are new and the car weighed enough to keep them securely on the highway. I also knew that I had my guides and guardians with me. My windshield wipers were having a hard time keeping up with the snow and wind, and sometimes I couldn't see the car in front of me until I saw their brake lights. Everytime the windshield wipers faltered, I would simply ask for it to be clear so I could see better, and the excess water and snow would fall away. I kept telling myself to relax and to breathe, and as I listened to the radio they played a lot of my favorites songs; songs that make me smile, or bring back happy memories. As I pulled into my garage, I was thinking about all the snow on the car and knew it would melt onto the floor and create a mess, but on the positive side, I didn't have to have to take it to get it washed.
Today is Friday and another snow day! The sun is out and I can see pavement on the streets in the neighborhood. I think it's time I went to the store to get groceries so I can sit back and relax and enjoy the beauty of the ice crystals on my windows.
Take care and take peace,
Patricia
